On Friday, December 19th, thirty-six beautiful women from across our wonderful state of Kentucky competed for the most prestigious crown in the state MISS KENTUCKY USA®. The competitor’s day began early at 8:00 am and fished some twelve hours later with the crowning of the new MISS KENTUCKY USA®. At the end of the night it was Maria Montgomery of Danville that was left standing with the crown. The four runners-up were in order from fourth to first were: Albany Caudill of Stanton, Amanda Pittman of Widcliffe, Kaitlynne Postel of Lexington, and Brandy Fisher of Lexington.

On April 19th, Maria competed against the country's most beautiful women for the crown of MISS USA® 2009 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The 2009 MISS USA® competition was seen live on NBC. By the end of the night, Maria finished as fourth runner-up to the eventual winner Kristen Dalton of North Carolina.
